Uien en knoflook (Onions and Garlic)

A heap of golden onions with pale heads of garlic gathered at the front, all doubled in the warm gloss of the tabletop. The contrast does the work, dry amber skin against the chalky white of garlic, each papery layer caught in turn. A plain kitchen handful raised to a small exercise in light.
