Blauwe schaal met uien (Blue Bowl with Onions)

Golden onions crowd a blue enamel bowl painted with little white flowers, a few heads of garlic resting around its foot on an embroidered cloth. The patterned enamel and the dry onion skins set warm against cool, the whole thing doubled faintly on the table. A kitchen still life, plain and beautifully held.
