Suikerbus en theepot (Sugar Tin and Teapot)

Out of a dark ground rise two speckled blue enamel cans, one lettered SUIKER, beside a yellow teapot trimmed in red, a lilac bowl with eggs, a gold-stemmed glass and a tea egg swinging on its chain. Against the black the kitchen colours glow like a small stage, each glossy surface picked out by a single fall of light. Plain brocante turned almost festive.
