Gepelde mandarijn (Peeled Mandarin)

A mandarin half peeled, the bright segments parting from their loosened jacket while a curl of rind lies discarded alongside and one wedge sits apart. Wiedijk plays the matte white pith and dimpled orange skin against the wet shine of the exposed fruit. The small drama of peeling, stopped at the moment the fruit is opened.
