A wind-up tin panda beats its little drum on a wheeled base, all lithographed flowers, stars and bright enamel, parked on a pegboard shelf. Wiedijk renders the printed tin and its soft sheen with a fijnschilder's patience. A clockwork toy given the seriousness of a portrait.
