Stilleven met nautilus (Still Life with Nautilus)

A white enamel can, a large iridescent nautilus and a scalloped white bowl on cutwork lace, nearly without colour. White on white is the hardest exercise in the craft, and the shell glows with mother of pearl against the matt enamel. Light alone carries the picture.
