Schelpen op blauw (Shells on Blue)

Four shells, their mother-of-pearl lustre catching pink and silver, sit on a sheet of vivid blue that crinkles like foil. The contrast is the whole point, the soft iridescence of the sea set against a hard modern blue, each surface rendered to the last gleam. The shell was once the prized soul of the sea in a pronkstilleven, and here it still holds the light.
