Wit op wit (White on White)

A white enamel coffee pot, three iridescent turban shells, a glass diamond and a small salt shaker rest on a cloth of white cutwork lace. Painting white on white is one of the hardest feats in the craft, the picture living in faint warm and cool shifts within a single non-colour. Stripped of colour, it holds the eye through light alone.
