Gringo

A grey, wolflike shepherd lies curled on a bare pale ground, chin near the floor, eyes half open and watching. The whole coat is built up hair by hair, the soft undercoat playing against the darker saddle, a feat of patience. Nothing surrounds it but emptiness and the quiet of its rest.
