Uien (Onions)

Four brown onions clustered together, their papery skins gleaming amber and gold, dried tops curling upward, each softly doubled in the tabletop. Wiedijk catches the thin translucent layers and the split where the skin flakes away. Humble kitchen things, given the seriousness once kept for silver.
