Nautilusschelpen (Nautilus Shells)

Two pearled nautilus shells, large and small, glow with mother-of-pearl in faint greens and pinks against a soft grey ground. The nautilus was once an exotic luxury, mounted in gold as the showpiece of a pronkstilleven. Here it needs no gold, only the patient rendering of iridescence doubled in the polished surface below.
