Drie peren (Three Pears)

Three pears lean together on a pale glossy surface, their green skins freckled and flushed with the first warm gold of ripening. Soft reflections hang beneath them like a second, fainter painting. Pears are a painter's favourite for exactly this, the slow travel of colour across the skin.
