Kreeft (Lobster)

Cropped close, the lobster and its bowl of dark grapes fill the frame, scarlet claw against blue-black fruit. Wiedijk renders the pitted shell and the dusty bloom on each grape with equal care, every freckle and highlight in place. Stripped to two surfaces, it is pure stofuitdrukking, the joy of painting touch itself.
