Staldeur NP (Stable Door NP)

Flat pale-yellow plank doors filling the frame, hatches and a wicket, a number plate 12 and the letters NP marked on the wood, a red bucket at one corner and a crate with a white mug at the other. The painted numbers and chalk letters work like a trompe-l'oeil label, and the soft yellow boards are caught in low warm light. Plain working doors raised, by sheer attention, to the dignity of a portrait.
