Three men in white desert robes, rifles across their laps, ride ostriches against a towering green relief of carved idols. The ostrich is a perfect joke of a war-horse: the fastest creature on two legs, able to sprint at around seventy kilometres an hour, and utterly unable to fly. The real point is hidden in the wall of green gods, where a Mercedes star sits quietly among the totems. That single badge turns the comedy serious. The idols of empire and the logos we still revere are carved into the very same stone, and Wiedijk simply leaves it there for you to find.
