Nautilusschelpen (Nautilus Shells)

Two nautilus shells glow with mother-of-pearl beside a turquoise flowerpot beaded with water, on a pale cloth over a decorated crate. The nautilus was once an exotic luxury, mounted in gold as the showpiece of a pronkstilleven. Here its iridescence is the whole subject, the soul of the sea against humble terracotta.
