Koffiekannen en knoflook (Coffee Pots and Garlic)

A tall parade of coffee pots, red enamel, brass and a blue can, rises above a row of braided garlic on a crate stamped NEW ZEALAND APPLES. The painted lettering echoes the old cartellino, the trompe-l'oeil slip of paper in early still lifes. Enamel, brass and dry garlic skin, kitchen brocante given Old Master dignity.
