Aardbeien en perziken (Strawberries and Peaches)

A white bowl heaps with strawberries between two pale peaches, on a white cloth bordered with bold floral cutwork lace. The lace is the showpiece here, Richelieu work where the cut holes themselves become the pattern, set against the seeded gleam of the berries. Ripe red on white, simply a joy to look at.
