The companion to Struislopers. A barefoot man in striped trousers and goggles rides an ostrich across a beach of bleached driftwood and rusted wreckage, the kind of empty, time-stopped shore Dalí and Tanguy made their own. His entire larder is a fish and a watermelon hung in a birdcage from his pole, a shepherd dog with panniers trotting alongside. Fully equipped and going absolutely nowhere, he is the image that haunts the whole series: the traveller perfectly prepared for a journey whose destination washed away long ago.
